Senegal/ Macky Sall prepares a general amnesty law

Senegalese President Macky Sall has instructed his government to prepare an amnesty bill covering the crimes of March 2021 and June 2023. 

An opportunity for many people thrown into prison for political reasons, including Ousmane Sonko, to regain their freedom. 

According to information, Macky Sall presented the idea to the last council of ministers. For him, this is a general amnesty to calm the political climate and also create a framework for dialogue allowing the electoral process to resume. 

According to the information, the bill will be presented next Wednesday to the council of ministers for adoption before its submission to the national assembly.
