Ghana/President Nana Akufo-Addo took radical measures by reshuffling his government this Wednesday

Accused of mismanagement of the economic crisis shaking Ghana, President Nana Akufo-Addo took radical measures by reshuffling his government this Wednesday, February 14. No less than 13 ministers were ousted, including the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, as well as 10 deputy ministers, in order to give new impetus to public action.

This decision comes in a context where the opposition strongly criticized the management of the economic crisis by the outgoing Minister of Finance. Indeed, for several years, the Ghanaian economy has been facing difficulties such as increasing debt, growing inflation and currency depreciation. These challenges prompted the government to seek assistance from the IMF, a decision that goes against President Akufo-Addo's initial policy of independence from the institution.

This massive reshuffle, which occurs a few months before a presidential election, seems to be an attempt to revitalize public action and meet the population's expectations in terms of economic management. The new government team, already formed, is now awaiting approval from parliament. Mohammed Amin Adam was appointed as the new Minister of State for Finance, with the mission of continuing the reforms started by the previous team in order to revive the country's economy.

As part of these economic recovery measures, the authorities had also undertaken to reduce the state's lifestyle while improving the effectiveness of government action. This reshuffle marks a new stage in the management of the economic crisis in Ghana, with the hope of seeing the country return to the path of prosperity and financial stability.
