Over 2,500 Killed in Lebanon Since Early March Amid Ongoing Israeli Strikes

Lebanese authorities reported on Sunday that at least 13 people were killed and 30 others injured over the previous 24 hours, according to Anadolu Agency.

The country’s Health Ministry stated that the cumulative death toll from Israeli military operations has risen to 2,509, with 7,755 people wounded since 2 March.

The escalation follows sustained Israeli airstrikes and a ground offensive in southern Lebanon, launched in response to a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on 2 March. Regional tensions had already been heightened after the United States and Israel carried out strikes on Iran on 28 February.

Although a 10-day ceasefire was announced on 16 April, Lebanese officials say it has been repeatedly violated by Israeli forces.

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump indicated that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to extend the ceasefire by an additional three weeks. The decision followed a second round of high-level negotiations held at the White House.

The situation remains volatile, with ongoing concerns about further escalation despite diplomatic efforts to maintain a truce.
